This extension is huge. It locks up the left side with Rashawn Slater, and with right tackle Joe Alt still being on his rookie contract, the Chargers are poised to be well protecting Quarterback Justin Herbert for the next four years. Continuity and high skillsets at the end posts of the line are hard to find in the NFL and to have this opportunity it was a no brainer for the Chargers front office. except for missing, most of the 2022 season Slater has been lights out for protection earning him two pro-bowls and what should have been an all-pro nod in lasts years season. With all of this going on and the offseason acquisition of Mehki Becton, Justin Herbert will have every opportunity to sling the ball as much as he wants as well as giving running backs Hampton and Harris a strong line to run behind.
