Chargers Storm to Atlanta for an Electric Win

After a tough loss in the Harbaugh Bowl, the Chargers headed down to the ATL to face the Falcons last Sunday. The Playoff race is heating up and the Chargers are currently sitting in the fifth seed in the AFC. If the playoffs started tomorrow the Chargers would be facing up against the Texans in Houston. Three games left in the season after the Falcons, with the Chargers facing Kansas City, Tampa Bay and Denver, every game is going to count moving forward.

It was a beautiful sunny but cold day in the ATL on Sunday. I traveled to the game after having just been in LA for the Harbaugh Bowl. First time at Benz stadium, great atmosphere, great food, and great sportsmanship from the large local fan base. The energy was high in the stadium with several celebrity appearances including Madea, Lil John and Quavo. Lil John even performing his hit song ‘Get Low’ with surprise guest the Ying Yang Twins.

On the Chargers side of the ball; a few homecoming players with this game. Rookie Ladd McConkey second round pick out of Georgia, and sixth round pick Kimani Vidal with his home town being Marietta, Georgia. Big game for Ladd coming away with the brunt of the load coming away with nine receptions for 117 yards. Ladd is doing exactly as I predicted in the preseason by not only showing up but by becoming the chargers number one target. And to add a cherry on top, he has every opportunity to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in his rookie campaign.

The Chargers had a tough time finding the end zone on Sunday but no need to fear Cameron Dicker aka “Dicker the Kicker” is here. Dicker scored three field goals and one extra point, significantly helping us in securing the win on Sunday.

What was the real hero for the Chargers was defensive player #29, Tarheeb Still, who had two interceptions, one of them being a pick six. Chargers Defense had four interceptions on Atlanta QB Kirk Cousins, one of which coming from a player that was signed just this week with Marcus Maye getting a crucial interception in Atlanta’s end zone. Defense kept us in the game even though we couldn’t find the end zone. On the last and final play of the game, when the Falcons needed a touchdown to win since the Chargers were up by four points, Derwin James comes in clutch with sealing the win for the Chargers and picking off for the fourth and final interception..

The Chargers find themselves sitting at 8-4 with five games left in the season. Chargers just need two more wins to have doubled their win total from last year. Cheifs, Buccs, Patriots, Broncos, Raiders. Next game is this Sunday, primetime under the lights when the Chargers take on Mahomes and the Cheifs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
