From the Editor: I am a Rightfully Angry Angeleno-American

Let’s get real. There has been so much shit in the headlines lately. It’s hard to understand that we’re living in the United States of America without thinking that Orwell’s ‘1984’ was an actual truth that we would live. As a writer and journalist, my job can be subjective, but this bullshit is much more than overwhelming; a sentiment I share with my colleagues and peers. I’ve taken more time than I thought it would take me to affirm my grounding. Writing and journaling can and sometimes will be a debilitating self-masochistic form of depressional rationalization because, potentially, I am writing about the end of American comfort.

I’ve written up several drafts that I have not published. I have written several topics that didn’t even go further than that because of its context material. And I think that enough of us have heard the bad, the ugly, the uglier, the worst. And the degradation of what we thought and believed a great nation. That, this or whatever we believed, would not completely fail because, we are the USA, right? We never thought we would, especially to a fascist oligarchy.

As the Editor of the Los Angeles Journal, I know that the LA that I grew up in is one that consists of all the “radical” people and ideas that make this world beautiful. The gays, theys and thems. The immigrants and “illegals,” but let’s get this straight, no human being is illegal. The farmworkers that literally feed our families while sacrificing their time with theirs. The cooks and construction workers, casters, builders and architects. Our gorgeous mom and pop shops, hidden gems and restaurants that are the dreams and reality of immigrants looking to seek the promise that our great nation promised. Targeting hardworking creative individuals won’t make you feel less sloppy Mr. Orange, it makes you cowardly and by the way, America has never been great, it was on its way to be and you are retarding it from its proper and dignified self, and yes, built on the backs of immigrants and slaves, the same people that you find pleasure in demonizing. I choose this position to have a voice to those who feel like they don’t. I didn’t come to play.

United States President and 36 count convicted felon Donald Trump has the lowest approval rate of any president in American history as well as the biggest federal deficit. Since the eradication and independence from a monarchy listed in 1776, America has promised in giving opportunity to those who seek it and aside from the judgement to those deserving of it. Cutting federal programs takes away those opportunities and puts our hardworking tax dollars in the hands of billionaires who rely on the common man for no other reason than to thieve us.

One thing that I know that I can do is to not stop writing. I need to continue. To document. Get over myself. And do my damn job. I am definitely not part of the 1%. And the majority of our readers are not as well, so this is for my 99%.

We outnumber them. They need us more than they need oxygen. We as Americans have so much more power than what we taught in school. After all, what has been taught is a biased instruction based on colonizer politics that is meant to dampen any sort of idea that is “radical” in the eyes of those who seek control. It is stated flatly and with a pungent statement that if We the People see that our government seeks control as a fascist, dictatorship, it is our job as Americans to overthrow.

Families are being torn apart on the home front, and dare I say to many who rightfully own this land. Gaza’s genocide is seen as a realty opportunity to a self-declared “king” that now resides in the White House along with his own personal 3rd Reich Lex Luthor (ahem, Elon Musk) slashing needed federal funding, social security, jobs that keep the public safe and secure. Our lands and skies are dangerous and so are the security of the American people and beyond. That’s another thing. These treacherous ideas and policies distress far beyond the edges of the US, it is affecting the entire world. This is not a battle ground solely placed on our home, but those of the homes of our neighbors as well.

As a patriot to this country and Los Angeles because yes, it is my home, I believe that it is not defiance to stand up to the powers of injustice and that’s exactly what this is, undignified bald superiority by the hands of hatred serving injustice to the American people. I am an angry American. I am angry that some people were so naive to believe that a soiled crooked womanizing convict, could actually give a shit or even feel and ounce of humanity that is required for the role that he now sits in, the fuckin president of the United states. And if you voted for him I’m telling you, read elsewhere, you aren’t welcome.

I know I said earlier that all of this is too much to swallow but we must and digest it as the shit it will be but until then, we must band together more than ever and understand that we still have control, and we still have a chance. You and your family still have a chance, it’s going to take a lot of effort but like with any goal that will be achieved, consistency is key. Repost on social media. Contact your senators and the House of Representatives and voice your concerns. Attend city hall meetings and speak up because you are your own advocate mostly. Fight the good fight and know your rights. We as Los Angelenos know how to stick together as history has told, we need to continue to prove so again and again
