Andrew Chou Diamond Bar’s Councilman Selected for Kiwanian of the Year for Mobilizing Community Service

Andrew Chou has been making a difference in the city of Diamond Bar through organizing community events and mobilizing the business community.

He started out as a local businesss advocate and brought his need to serve to the larger community. For his full time job, he founded his own wealth management and investment planning business, Nex Gen Wealth Management and it is based in Diamond Bar.

NexGen Wealth Management helps people plan, grow, and preserve their wealth. They identify and utilize the latest insurance and investment instruments in helping their clients’ financial planning.

Prior to COVID-19 pandemic, Chou organized a group of business leaders and CEOs for Diamond Bar and helped them network with each other. The group is called the Diamond Bar CEO Cirle. The group often meets for lunch and shares business announcements.

Andrew Chou was elected to the Diamond Bar City Council in November 2018. He actively supports the city by taking on several leadership roles. Chou is chair of Diamond Bar Public Finance Authority, given his background in wealth management. The Authority oversees the construction bond for the Diamond Bar Center. Andrew is a member of the League of California Cities, L.A. County Division.

Andrew volunteers his time to help the with the Diamond Bar Young Professionals Kiwanis Club. He advocates for local youth to serve and do community service. Chou often speaks and advices Kiwanis youth clubs, Key Club and Builers Clubs, and helps organize their community events including school supply collections and vaccine clinics.

In early October, the Diamond Bar Young Professionals Kiwanis enjoyed their annual installation dinner to welcome the incoming board and new members at the Brown Rice Thai restaurant.

During the dinner, Andrew Chou was awarded the the prestigious award of Kiwanian of the Year. Chou is heavily involved in supporting the Kiwanis youth groups, organizing community events, and simply putting several volunteer hours in to the build the community. He is recognized for hosting vaccine clinics, community drives to collect goods, creating new community service events at churches, helping the business community thrive, and advising youth to get involved in the commmunity.

The Brown Rice owner donated part of the proceeds from the dinner to the Kiwanis community causes. The donations earned will support the local Diamond Bar community service projects including school supply giveaways, toy drives, and vaccine clinics.

Andrew Chou puts his own dollars back into the community and eats locally in the city of Diamond Bar almost everyday.

Background for Andrew Chou

Andrew volunteers his time to help the local youth.

Andrew Chou was born in Taiwan. He grew up in Hacienda Heights, California. Chou, his wife Jennifer, and their two children reside in Diamond Bar.

Andrew studied Social Science at the University of California, Irvine. His studies included an emphasis on research and analytical methods. Chou went on to complete an additional two years in Personal Financial Planning.

This early training allowed him to go right into Wealth Management as a career. Later Chou moved into Investment careers. Andrew left his investment and wealth management jobs in 2012. So he could develop his own business.

On the side, he is an instructor in the UC Irvine Department of Continued Education. Andrew teaches several courses in the Certified Financial Planner curriculum. He has also helps teach financial planning through the City of Diamond Bar.
