Baran’s is a bistro attached to a mall some blocks from the beach right on PCH. They provide a unique culinary experience for everyone to enjoy.
Run by the Baran brothers, who develop their seasonal menu from scratch, MICHELIN’s Bib Gourmand was impressed with their specialty meal and now Baran’s 2239 is on their list.

Roots of the MICHELIN Guide, an Innovative Sales Program
Designed to encourage motorists to take to the road where there were only 3,000 cars in France. In 1889 Clermont-Ferrand, central France, Michelin tires was founded. Brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin the company.
The book was designed to help motorists plan their trips. This is in the hopes of boosting car sales and resulting in tire sales. The guide included maps, information on how to change a tire, and where to fill up on petrol. Plus a list of places to eat or rest for the night.
As the guide grew, an increase in interest in the restaurants listed became a huge selling point. So, the brothers hired a team of diners to review restaurants anonymously.
In 1926 the guide began awarding stars for the finest restaurants. MICHELIN Guides became a best-seller for travelers worldwide. Needless to say, the Michelin brothers achieved their object to get more cars and tires on the road. Their plan to boost sales took off, and tourism began in earnest.

The Baran brothers are dedicated to serving great food. Over ten countries supply over 100 new world and old world wines. This is a great hangout for anyone in the South Bay. Now that Barans is recognized by MICHELIN, people are visiting from all around, known as the MICHELIN chasers.
Building on the family business of the Brothertons Farmhouse in Pasadena, the Farmhouse served hometown favorites for over fifty years. The brothers wanted to create a casual restaurant, one that would allow their culinary talents to expand.
Tyler Gugliotta’s French-technique Based Cooking Style
Executive Chef Tyler Gugliotta’s cooking style is French-technique-based. All their pasta, focaccia, and sausages are made in-house from scratch.
Baran’s 2239 menu is based on seasonal fresh foods grown locally. Gugliotta gains inspiration for his dishes from his travels. As well as the local Asian and Mexican influences.
