Los Angeles, CA (June 15, 2024) – ‘Chicano Elegance’ is welcomed back to Hollywood for a second time in a row for “La Raza.” The gala originated as an idea that has been almost a decade in the making and is inspired by the great European houses of fashion and events such as the Met Gala. Its creator, Elvira Zamora, saw an opportunity not only for her brand but for other Chicano talents who should be celebrated and who are the main characters of the night. Unfortunately, many have taken from the culture of Chicano’s without properly giving credit to the originators of streetwear, subculture artists and indigenous traditions.
Influence by her father, who was an expert tailor for over 50 years, led to the birth of Thrifts–a genderless online store that practices green fashion and has gained popularity as far as Tokyo, Japan. Thrifs is a brand that sees no limit in representing the voices of those who have grown up in the hood, the minority of women of indigenous roots and those who have struggled in disparity as immigrants.
‘Chicano Elegance’ is a collaborative group of creatives whose purpose is to inspire our communities’ cultures on an elevated platform as well as give back and unite as much talent as possible. *The proceeds from that night will go directly to Warriors Road USA, a non-profit organization on a mission to heal veterans and first responders through the power of working with horses.
Located in the heart of Hollywood and hosted by Calipso Aranda and Luis Cornejo, the gala promises several features to this celebration: live entertainment, music stage sponsored by UrbanCon, art show curated by Echos World, interactive installations, brand shopping experience, red carpet media room hosted by Chicano Hollywood and Valley Views SFV, open bar with signature cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and complimentary wine, tequila & mezcal tastings. Complimentary dinner, runway show by Senora Calzones, House Oscura, Chingon The Magazine and Morena Mia.
