Marsh Interviews Newt Gingrich – Beyond Biden
Roger Marsh talks with Newt Gingrich and where we go after Biden.
The Bottom Line covers a Biblical World View
A major airline changes their policy on the COVID mandate. The head of the largest Christian denomination in the U.S. resigns. A former President is hospitalized in Orange County for a “minor infection” that somehow lands him in Intensive Care. Headlines like these can seem ominous and discouraging. But for Roger Marsh, getting to the heart of what’s really at stake regarding issues like these is all in a day’s work.
Roger hosts “The Bottom Line,” a Southern California-based radio broadcast and podcast committed to focusing on the facts and encouraging thoughtful and respectful debate on the issues of the day. “Over the past decade, it’s been remarkable to see how the tone of the conversation – whether political, economic or spiritual – has changed so dramatically,” he recently noted. “The Bottom Line covers current events from a biblical worldview – but even THAT can be up to debate for some people in the Church community as well. So I really have to stay on my toes.”
Roger Marsh is a conservative-leaning pastor, author and broadcaster. Though he began his academic career pursuing a degree in Accounting at Cal State Fullerton, the lure of the radio proved to be too strong to ignore. “I got my first transistor radio at age 6 when our family lived in Whittier – and I was hooked. My mom listened to talk radio all day. I spent many autumn afternoons listening to USC football at my grandmother’s house as I worked in the back yard with her. And the musical variety radio offered back then was so inspiring and fun. I knew I wanted to be a part of that industry when I got older no matter what.”
Roger spent his college years playing bass in a cover band. He began his career behind the mic as a wedding DJ.
Roger was a “rock and roll dj” in the early 1980’s and spent 7 years as Program Director of Contemporary Christian Music station KYMS before making the transition to talk radio. (He also serves as a “studio voice” for the FOX Network, Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk and Azusa Pacific University where he studied Business Management during his undergraduate days.)
Today, he can be heard every Monday through Friday from 3 to 4:30PM hosting The Bottom Line on KBRT (AM 740 in Los Angeles) as well as on KCBC (AM 770 in San Francisco) and in 25 other rated markets throughout the Western U.S. Offering “Analysis, Balance and Clarity” of current events from his lifelong hometown in “the People’s Republic of California” provides a unique window to the world not often found on other talk shows, either Christian or secular.
Avoiding opinion and spin, he shares facts with a solid focus on truth. And there have been no shortage of well-known guests adding their expertise and analysis to the program each day as well. “To paraphrase Gordon Sumner, we’ve had our share of ‘poets, priests and politicians’ over the years: from Max Lucado, Jonathan Cain from Journey, Dr. Martin Luther King’s niece Dr. Alveda King, U.S. Senators including Tim Scott and Mike Lee.” During the U.S. Presidential campaign of 2016, Marsh noted that Ted Cruz’s team listened to the program each day online from their headquarters in Houston. “At first, it was to make sure we weren’t slandering them,” he quipped. “But before long, they were tuning in every day because they enjoyed the reporting.”
The Bottom Line Focuses on Solutions to Day to Day Issues
Avoiding the sensationalism that much of the news brings, Roger focuses on solutions. Sharing informative thought-provoking conversations with his guests to help listeners better understand the issues that impact us all, regardless of our backgrounds.
“Our goal is to help our listeners understand WHY they believe WHAT they believe – and then to be able to live out those beliefs in a world that doesn’t always understand them. Faith in God plays a big role in living out our values – but it also helps us seek to live peaceably with those who may not agree with us. THAT is the Bottom Line.”
The Bottom Line with Roger Marsh airs Monday through Saturday from 3 to 4:30PM on KBRT AM 740 in the Los Angeles area. Podcast available at Apple Podcasts, www.thebottomlineshow.com and www.RogerMarsh.com
