Jim Liaw’s vision has placed him in a prime spot to drive the motorsport industry into the future. Jim slid in sideways to the General Manager position at Performance Racing Industry (PRI). Their Aliso Viejo, California office will host Liaw’s vision, leadership, and passion.
Liaw takes on 2021 PRI Trade Show
Dr. Jamie Meyer, PRI President, hired Jim to take charge of the upcoming PRI Trade Show. Jim will be focusing on the in-person 2021 PRI Trade Show. The show includes over forty seminars, conferences, and gatherings.
The racing industry will enjoy exhibits of new business opportunities, ideas, technology, and innovative products. The motorsports event will be taking place on December 9-11 in Indianapolis, Indiana. PRI is dedicated to racing and the racing industry. They promote all aspects of motorsports.
PRI’s Innovative New Membership Program
Jim will be overseeing membership and online content. Jim’s experience with the publishing industry will serve him well when directing PRI Magazine. He will be promoting the motorsports industry as a whole.
Meyer’s new membership program will unite the racing community worldwide. Jim will assist in developing the innovative program; it will allow businesses and individuals to become PRI members. The goal is to protect, build, and promote motorsports.
The Welfare of the Motorsport Industry Under Attack
A bill before congress, called the RMP Act, is designed to protect business owners involved in the motorsports industry. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been fining automotive aftermarket companies. These are companies that produce parts for race cars, all perfectly legal.
Through legislative advocacy and action, PRI’s magazine promotes the welfare of the motorsport industry as a whole. This includes the worldwide racing community. PRI provides market research, best practices, and education to motorsport businesses.
Jim Liaw states he is not afraid to innovate and push boundaries. He plans to attract younger fans at the same time supporting race tracks and in-person events. He will be dealing with government restrictions as he expands the motorsports industry.
Changes to Formula Drift Leadership
Liaw is an entrepreneur and pioneer in the motorsports industry. Jim discovered the trend of drifting and co-founded Formula Drift in 2003. Doing so brought the sport to American audiences, and then Jim took it to the world.
Liaw will remain a board member for Formula Drift Holdings, LLC, as Ryan Sage takes over as President. Sage has been the company’s Vice President since 2004 and a co-founder of Formula Drift. Jim will focus on Formula Drift’s federation and international relationships.
Liaw expressed faith in the team running Formula Drift and expects it to continue to grow upward. He said change is difficult but necessary. As Liaw looks forward to the new chapter in his life and career, he will enjoy Formula Drift from the board room.
Sage explains Jim has been his friend and business partner for twenty years. Ryan is excited to see Liaw advance in his career. Jim helped build Formula Drift into a worldwide respected drifting organization. Jim’s legacy helped the company through significant challenges.
Formula Drift continues into Round 7 of the FD PRO Championship on September 17, 18, along the streets of Long Beach. Then on to Irwindale Speedway in October for the season finale.
